F3-FA Self-Installing Platform

A ground-breaking steel and mathematical project

The Self-Installing F3-FA Production Platform, a project by Centrica Energy, is a reusable platform, supported by four tubular legs each fitted at the bottom with large suction piles. The entire deck structure is held together by sixteen super bolts: a unique and complex design. The F3-FA Production Platform is the first Self-Installing Platform built on this scale (8,800 tonnes). With various innovative technical designs and a challenging schedule for the construction work, the limitations of steel and mathematics have been sought beyond the boundaries. Iv-Offshore & Energy performed the engineering, from the FEED study all the way through to the detailed engineering and the procurement of equipment.
